intelligent, timely and beautiful
this book, published in conjunction with the show at the hirshhorn museum, digs well into the current controversy of beauty in art. it undertakes this risky proposition and manages to develop and produce an elegant catalogue of that which is beautiful in contemporary art.

Regionalism and Global Economic Integration: Europe, Asia and the Americas

Global Economis Integration
As a student of International Integration, I found this book very interesting and informative in describing the links and the commonality between different global integration processes. For sure after reading the combined essays supporters of integration will reconsider their views on the subject. Is integration a good process? Does it take away from a nations national and political sovereignty? Excellent book I recommend it highly

Hello from Lee Coleman, MD. The Rittenhouse Cookbook: A Year of Seasonal Heart-Healthy Recipes from Philadelphia's Famous Hotel
Published in Hardcover by Ten Speed Press (December, 1997)
Authors: Jim Coleman, Marilyn Cerino, John Harrisson, and Jum Coleman
Average review score:

A brilliant combination of heart-healthy and delicious!
Richard Burke,Jr (Irish Pub): Chef Coleman has long been known as the master behind so many of my favorite meals at the Rittenhouse Hotel, and now he's let us all in on the secrets behind how he creates decadent dishes that manage to be as light on the plate as they are on your diet. All too often it's difficult finding that happy medium between what you enjoy and what is more healthy and with this book you not only get started out with many many great recipes but Chef Coleman also takes you step by step behind the substitutions that allow no changes in flavors and textures. The photographs are awesome and the instructions easy to follow. If you cant get to the Rittenhouse this is definitely the next best thing!

Roanoke: The Lost Colony (The Thirteen Colonies and the Lost Colony Series)
Published in Library Binding by Powerkids Pr (January, 2001)
Author: Brooke Coleman
Average review score:

The great mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke
In 1585 Sir Walter Raleigh sent his cousin Sir Richard Grenville to find a good place for English settlers to live in America. With the help of Manteo, an Indian Raleigh met on his first expedition, Grenville picked Roanoke island as the place for the colony. Grenville left about 100 men to start the colony. Two years later a group of 114 men, women and children arrived to help the colony grow. In 1587 saw the birth of the first English person in the New World, Virginia Dare. However, in 1590 the colony was deserted and all that was found was the word "CROATOAN" carved on a tree.

If Roanoke is mentioned in an American History textbook it usually boils down to the birth of Virginia Dare and the mystery of the deserted colony. Brooke Coleman covers what little is known about the history of the colony, as well as some of the theories of what happened and how Roanoke is remembered today (a play, "The Lost Colony," has been performed on the island for years). More than the stories of the colonies at Plymouth or Jamestown, it is Roanoke that really gives us an idea of how difficult it was to settle America. This book is illustrated with maps, paintings and photographs about the Roanoke colony from throughout history. "The Lost Colony" is part of The Library of the Thirteen Colonies and The Lost Colony. Young readers interested in finding out after how English colonists made permanent settlements in this area should read the volume on "The Colony of Virginia," which tells about Jamestown.

Robert Heinecken: Photographist
Published in Paperback by Museum of Contemporary Art (October, 1999)
Authors: Robert Heinecken, Lynne Warren, A. D. Coleman, Irene Marian Borger, and Ill.) Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago
Average review score:

A Visual Feast for Contemporary Art/Photography Lovers
Having just seen the exhibit of Robert Heinecken at LACMA I can say this book is a very complete collection of his work. The pictures are beautiful and clearly show the brilliance of his craft. It is my first experience with his work and I am in love with it! The collection is a collage of photography and media related pictures mixed and overlapped expertly in erotic and humourous fashions. Heinecken uses eroticism blatanly and beautifully and his nudes are drawn on and overlapped with various images and often surrounded with written commentary by the artist. If you can't see the exhibit this is a beautiful book to experience a revolutionary artist!

Rumi: We Are Three: New Rumi Poems
Published in Paperback by Maypop (January, 1988)
Authors: Coleman Barks, Jalalu'l-Din Rumi, and Maulana Jalal al-Din Rumi
Average review score:

Lovely translation, deep poetry
I have given this book to at least 10 or 15 people as an introduction to Rumi. It has some of his most captivating poems (including most of my personal favorites), is very affordable and is high quality for a paperback. Rumi afficionados will like this book because it has a few poems I've not found published elsewhere. Rumi's symbolism is deep but this book is more accessible for beginners than others I've found, as the translation is lovely. A great value for the money since it contains many poems in a slim volume---makes a terrific and inexpensive gift.
